Friday nights, just thinking about it sends chills down my spine. Going through our pregame rituals. All our coaches giving us pep talks making the wait that much harder to bare. Then maybe Coach Rhodes famous hambone, the one thing that almost insures our victory. Last but not least, my personal favorite. The lords prayer. We say it together as one heartbeat we're a brotherhood and nothing could break the unity we have with each other.
When I walk out of the feild house with my team mates, I can smell the sweat from their bodies along with the turf and all the smells coming from the consession stand. You can almost taste the hotdogs and fritopie. We approch the tunnel, we can see the spirt line bulging around it. Then the time comes...Pioneer football! The seniors are always the first to emerge from the smoke. The crowd goes wild at the first glimps of our leaders. running through the tunnel and out onto the feild you can barely hear yourself think over the roaring crowd, the booming fireworks, and the band playing the fight song with all their hearts.
After this we're so pumped it's all we can do to keep from ripping someones head off. But we'll get our chance to do so on kickoff. Too me is the most exciting part of the whole game. At the sound of the whistle we're sprinting down is like running through a mine field, the sound of pads popping and helmets rocking all around you. It takes a wild man to do this. But after you make that big hit the kind that makes the crowd jump in their seat. And when you feel the adrenalin rushing through your body as your getting up off the opposing players stunned body. Then you realize you pinned them deep back behind their own 20 yard line. And you look into their eyes and that's when you know VICTORY is coming in the near future.
I never thought from the perspective of a football player! Nice job!
